China’s  State  Council has  announced  its  plan  to  expand  the modification  system weather which  would  enable  it  to control  weather conditions. The system  would  cover  a total  area  of 5.5  million  square  kilometres  for  artificial  rainfall.

Weather  modification  would  arrive  at a  worldwide  advanced  level  in terms  of operation,  technologies,  and  services  by 2035,  the State Council  said.

 WEATHER MODIFICATION

The act of intentionally manipulating or altering the weather. The most common form of weather modification is cloud seeding, which increases rain or snow, usually for the purpose of increasing the local water supply.

Seeding doesn't magically pull water out of the air. It just helps accelerate the process when the conditions are right.

CHINA IS WORKING IN ADVANCE WEATHER MODIFICATION

According to a statement from the State Council, China will have a "developed weather modification system" by 2025, thanks to breakthroughs in fundamental research and key technologies, as well as improvements in "comprehensive prevention against safety risks".

China investing heavily in the technology: between 2012 and 2017, the country spent over $1.34 billion on various weather modification programs.

ARTIFICIAL RAIN DURING BEIJING OLYMPICS

In 2008, the Beijing Olympic organizers fired more than 1000 rockets in the sky to seed clouds to make it rain a day before the opening ceremony and to ensure a precipitation-free event. China uses this weather modification ahead of big days in the country.
